There are 12 levels in total, each with 3 books, intended for children aged 4+.

Read it yourself

For over forty-five years, the best-selling Read It Yourself series has helped children practise and improve their reading skills. It consists of five graded levels that span Reception – Year 2 teaching in the UK Key Stage 1 curriculum: from Beginner Reader where children are consolidating their first phonics skills, to Fluent Reader where children are beginning to read longer stories by themselves. Each book uses a small number of frequently repeated words to steadily build reading confidence and fluency.

Designed to be read independently at home or used in a guided reading session at school. All titles include comprehension questions or puzzles, guidance notes and book band information for schools.

Peppa Pig and family in a boat
First Words with Peppa

First Words with Peppa is a levelled reading series of Peppa Pig stories for children who are learning to read. The series is based on the Dolch Sight Words list – the 220 most common words found in children’s English-language reading material. Each Storybook introduces around ten Sight Words. These words are repeated regularly throughout the story. It is through this repetition that children become familiar with the words and begin to recognise them. Any words in the story that aren’t Sight Words, character names or important nouns, are phonically decodable so that children can use their phonics knowledge to read them.
